When do applications close?
The deadline to turn in your application if you'd like to be an officer is February 10th, 2021. The normal application deadline is May 5th, 2021.

When will I know if I've been accepted into the club?
We check applications constantly. Once you turn in your application, our admissions committee will review it. The sooner you submit your application, the sooner you will receive a decision.

How do I get hours?
You can receive hours in many ways!! This includes participating in club activities and attending BCHS meetings. For more hour opportunities, visit our "Hours" page. To view meeting dates, visit our "Dates" page.

How many hours do I have to complete to remain in good standing?
You must complete 30 hours each semester, resulting in a total of 60 hours for the school year. Out of the 30 required hours per semester, 20 must come from McArthur NHS events and 10 must be obtained individually. While some tasks are only classified as one type, some hour opportunities can be used to fulfill either hours for NHS events or individual activities. To see what opportunities satisfy each grouping, look at the categories on our "Hours" page. If an activity is tagged under both categories, then you may pick whichever you would like your hours to count towards. You may only pick ONE category.

You can report hours using our Hour Credit Form. An entry must be submitted for all completed activities, including meetings. Photo submissions may also be made with this form. If you have any further questions, you can email Zaira.

How can I find out how many hours I have completed?
To determine how many hours you have turned in, and thus how many hours you owe, you can visit the "Hours" folder on Microsoft Teams. Simply find your student number and view your current hours. How much are dues?
Dues are $25. They are to be paid each year. They are used to pay for activities, materials, and satisfy the yearly dues required by the county.

How can I determine how much of my dues I have left to pay?
You can figure out how much of your dues you've paid, and thus how much you owe, by contacting Shaila. However, we do recommend that you also keep track of what you have paid. You will receive a receipt every time you submit money. Please keep those receipts for proof.

What is BCHS?
BCHS stands for the Broward County Honor Society. This is the county level National Honor Society. They do a number of things, including holding monthly meetings for all of the NHS chapters in the county.

Yes!!! We encourage all members to attend these meetings! The more the merrier! Members will receive one hour for each meeting. However, you must RSVP for the meeting. Definitely!! Each candidate is allowed to present a two minute speech. Be sure to mention your qualifications and any ideas you have for the club. Your speech should tell members more about you.

Yes! So far, we've had co-presidents for two years and co-historians for one year. There are so many upsides to this! Not only will it help you with your teamwork skills, but it also means that more individuals will be able to contribute to the club on the executive level.

In order to make communication easier, all of our members are split into small groups with an officer serving as their group leader. In these groups, you will be able to voice any ideas or concerns directly to your group leader so that they can bring it up to the rest of the officers. Additionally, your group leader will provide you with helpful information/updates. Get to know everyone in your group!! They are meant to provide support!
